Congregational Meeting Following Worship

A congregational meeting will be held following worship to vote on Calling Pastor Bruce to Bethany.

January 8, 2021

Dear Members of Bethany Lutheran Church,

We are proposing to call Pastor Bruce Osterhout as half time Pastor for a term of two years. Pastor Bruce has served over 24 years in the City of Reading. He is excited to help us find new ways to serve the community and bring the word of God to residents of West Reading. Pastor Bruce will be our supply Pastor for the Sundays in January. On January 24th, following the service we will have a congregational meeting to vote on calling Pastor Bruce to Bethany. Because of Covid-19 we will not have a formal meet and greet. You can meet Pastor Bruce on the Sundays in January or come to meet him during church office hours, M, W, F from 10 - 12. He is also available by phone 610-914-2795 or via email: Please call the office to schedule a time. All Sunday Worship Services are done with social distancing and masks are required to keep everyone safe.

Pastor Bruce has met with the church council several times and has given us an exciting proposal on what he thinks we can achieve over these two years. This should be a great time at Bethany. We encourage everyone to come and meet Pastor Bruce and see the excitment he brings to spreading the word of God. It has been 14 years since we have had a called Pastor. While the contracted Pastors we have had were good, it takes a called Pastor to truly be invested in the life of the church and the congregation.

Yours Truly,

Tom Evans
Church Council President
