July 2023
In Memory of Harry Stock

Harry has been involved in the life of Bethany in many ways for a very long time. Harry helped with the food pantry; he helped cook for the annual spaghetti dinner; he helped with Bethany's stands for National Night Out, Art on the Avenue and the Fall Festival along with many other things over the years.

Harry was a very gifted musician; he had a deep passion for music. We all loved hearing Harry play the guitar and many other instruments for our worship services. Harry loved playing his guitars and also enjoyed playing drums, steel drum, bells, rhythm and orff instruments. Harry loved singing and also composed beautiful music. Harry recently started teaching himself to play the mandolin. Harry was working on some hymns to play during worship.

Harry and I spent most Friday mornings together practicing for our worship services. It was such a joy and blessing to share music with Harry for so many years. I will truly miss our Friday morning music time.

Harry didn't read much music. God gave Harry the special gift of being able to play by ear. We would talk about chords and different music things. But I was always amazed how Harry would just start playing simply by hearing what I was playing. I often told him how I amazed I was and how that was such a special gift. It was just something that came very naturally to him, he didn't think it was anything special. It was very special.

Every Easter Sunday, Harry played and sang a song he wrote "New Easter Morn":
Mary walked out and thru the morning mist to the tomb were Jesus laid.
But when she got there, she had to stop and stare for the stone was rolled away.
Mary, who you looking for? Why do you cry?
The one that you seek walks along the stone and creek, he's risen he's alive.
We're all gathered here on this new Easter morn with gladness in our eyes.
He overcame the grave so that we may be saved.
And with him we'll reside, on that last Easter morn sunrise.

We will all miss Harry and his beautiful gift of music. We take comfort in knowing that Harry is in heaven making a joyful noise with all the angels.

Thank you, Harry, for sharing your gift of music! Until we meet again....Sing with all the Saints in Glory! Carla
